It encompasses our intellect, our consciousness, our intuition, our perceptions, our judgments, our understanding, our skills and talents, our intentions and expectations, our memories, our feelings, our reasoning, our dreams, and our creativity. The mind acquires knowledge and experience. It collects data, recollects, and contemplates. It compares and coordinates. It distills and elaborates. It solves our problems and worries about potential challenges that might or might not ever arise. The mind analyzes, strategizes, and speculates. It fantasizes. It invents, reinvents, calculates and recalculates. It becomes engrossed and broods. It obsesses. It believes virtually everything we tell it is true.
The mind makes all our decisions and remembers everything—what we did and what we didn’t do, what we’d do if only this or that happened and what we swear we’ll never do, or never do again. It keeps a running record of what we have, once had, and still want—what we like and dislike, who we like and dislike, and why. It knows exactly what we know and what we know we don’t know, how we see ourselves and everyone we’ve ever met—and all our countless other thoughts and opinions.
It can be called upon to learn and communicate in a dozen foreign languages, memorize and perform entire screenplays, ballets, or operas, and decipher or create complex mathematical equations to explain the functioning, as far as we’ve been able to observe and define it, of the very universe in which we find ourselves. And, if given the time and tranquility, the mind can help us reach altered states of consciousness in meditation or shamanic journeys, and its development in consistent spiritual practice is a proven path to God and self-realization.
Throughout the ages we have been counseled to watch our thoughts and the words they create because our thoughts manifest on the physical plane. We are asked to visualize peace, brotherhood, prosperity, and happiness as a practice because our minds are that powerful.
Essentially, with your mind you create your reality. It is of no use to speculate about the thoughts which created your present reality. It is of vital importance, however, to examine what you say and think from now on.
What thoughts and beliefs are you holding for yourself and your loved ones, your neighborhood and the planet we share? Do you believe in miracles? If so, do you ever catch yourself saying that there are things that will simply never happen? Do your thoughts ever pull you into a period of depression? Is stress and worry robbing you of vitality and lowering the efficiency of your body’s immune system? Have you figured out your talents and gifts yet and determined how best to use them during this lifetime, or is uncertainty about your life’s purpose preying on your mind?
Mind, Body, Spirit of Waldwick offers a variety of services to guide and assist you in achieving and maintaining optimal health and wellbeing. This includes peace of mind. In addition to relieving physical stress or rebalancing your body’s energy with massage and Zero Balancing, you may choose to attend one of our workshops, schedule an appointment for individual counseling, or have your cards read or your charts interpreted.
